Today the last bit of concrete path required at 124 Garlands Rd was poured. There is still a small bit left to do under the water tap for filling pots etc. Hope to get that done this Friday.

This morning, Hornby Rotary sent a nice big pressie.

A container!

Now we can get our stuff out of the rain .

This is to be used for temporary storage while the new base is being built. Plus a place to dive out of the rain, sleet and hail for a nice warm cuppa.

Mike the driver arrived at 9am, Dale, a former crane driver and the next door neighbour took charge of stabilising the container. Sibash and other Mike helped as well.

Today Sibash Moti started working for Addington Action. Sibash will be working every Friday for 16 weeks from 9 till 4 helping Mike get stuff, carry stuff, and put stuff away as well as get stuff ready for the Saturday and sometimes Sunday working bees at 124 Garlands Rd.

So today the job was shifting all the catering stuff to Elaine's place. Elaine who runs has kindly provided storage space in her garage and a spare bedroom.

Addington Action's fruit and veggie co-op programme is going from strength to strength.

It's 24 distribution centres which are serving nearly 500 households, have spread well away from the original catchment to as far as Burnham and the Heathcote Valley.

New distribution centres have been opened at the Christchurch South Community Garden, Strickland St and at the Court Theatre, Addington said organiser Mike Peters.

It commences on the 20th of May and might be the way to break through the problems between the insured, insurers and their project management organisations (PMOs). This morning 7 volunteers turned up at 9am to work at 124 Garlands Rd building the new depot for Addington Action. The 4 students had signed up to volunteer via the SVA website in exchange for free entry to "The Concert" last year.
The jobs today between the street and the front fence were
Phineas as head kitten was in charge of entertainment. Phineas comes most days to Garlands Rd.

Research released today provides a fascinating snapshot of how the Canterbury population is coping with the aftermath of one of New Zealand's worst natural disaster.
