Christchurch City Council’s Planning Committee recommended today that the Council approve the request from King’s Education for the planting of a memorial tree, with a remembrance plaque, in Latimer Square. Christchurch children are being welcomed back into the Central City with free Thursday lunchtimes concerts for those working in town to enjoy.  The programme, cancelled last year due to earthquakes, is being held on Thursday lunchtimes in various Central City locations.

On , the new Transitional St Albans Community Centre will open in Colombo St, St Albans. The transitional facility has been supplied by Lions Clubs and will be managed and operated by Christchurch City Council.  It will provide a community venue for recreational, educational and low-impact sports groups in St Albans and neighbouring suburbs in Christchurch.
