The Earthquake Commission (EQC) is classifying yesterday’s 6.3 aftershock in Christchurch as a new event for insurance purposes.
Residents with silt on their properties, and who are able to clear the silt themselves, are asked to pile silt on the road outside your property in preparation for removal by Fulton Hogan and City Care contractors.

Residents of Heberden Avenue, Sumner have been asked to self-evacuate for safety.
Christchurch City Council has found other roles within the organisation for most of the staff who were told their jobs had been disestablished following damage to some of its facilities during the 22 February earthquake.
Residents, businesses and interest groups have two weeks to give feedback on the Christchurch City Council’s draft budget for the coming year, which was adopted by Council this afternoon.
Christchurch City Council and Vbase Ltd today confirmed the Vbase business will now be governed and managed by Council.
