Kia ora, Hello Brighton Folk,

Have you seen the signs up around town? Oh yes, it's time for our very own annual Christmas Parade! This is one of my favourite New Brighton community events- a day that never fails to serve me a smile and make me feel good. It really encompasses what it means to be a part of a great community like ours. It gives us a chance to celebrate our year, past and future. This year will be extra special for the New Brighton Project as it's our last Parade with Ma ...

Kia ora, Hello New Brighton Folk,

Wasn't that a great few weeks? A fabulous series of events hosted by many various community groups, all of which were tremendously successful- Fairs and fetes, BBQs and Bicycle tours, Te Radar and the ecoMarket; with opportunities to dance, sing and learn a thing or two there was nearly not even enough time to get to the beach!

While I'd personally like to say "Thank you Very Much", can I also add -"!"?

The ecoMarket was an enormous success ...

Kia ora folks,
this is a 'between letter' posting, so you won't find it in your in-box.

What a great weekend that was!

The Community Gardens folk tell me their Open Day was well received, scones and Devonshire teas with plenty of sunshine- what more do you need?! The Neighbourhood BBQ at the Union St Church was well attended too, again, thanks to a nice bunch of people (you) and super weather.
And the market- what a day! Many vendors sold out by midday and all the visitors ...

Kia ora, Hello Brighton Folk!

Who made it to last weekend's Band Together concert in Hagley Park? What a great way to celebrate being part of such a great, wide community of people! It certainly did loads to cheer me up. Did you notice the placard attached to the tree by the bridge? We're carrying on the feel-good vibe by inviting all to come out to Brighton for a giggle. That's right, Te Radar is going to be performing here in Brighton as part of the ecoWeekend! (If you haven't got ...

Good weather and good friends made our Pleasant Day Out, a truly enjoyable afternoon.  Resident, Laurie Stringer enchanted us on the harp, while local denizens mingled on the hill. Some of the local businesses attended as well.  We look forward to seeing many more of you at our next Pleasant Day Out.  You can expect photos on the site very soon.

At long last, the face-lift planned for the Mt Pleasant Community Centre website is taking shape.  We intend on rolling out the entire site very soon.  The new MPCC website is far more socially aware, and suits us fine as a community.  One of the newest tools at our disposal is this great new weblog, where we intend on publishing Mt Pleasant News stories as they break.  We also have a new Agenda area, where you can instantly see what is up for discussion.
