A lot has happened in the 4 years since that first 7.1 earthquake shook us awake at 4:35am. The resulting earthquake sequence that lasted with severe aftershocks right through to January 2012 has changed the landscape in our city for ever. The worst of these shocks being February 22 where we must pay respect to the 185 lives that were lost on that day and the many tens of thousands of families who lost their homes, livelihoods and communities.
