If the delay is to help residents with the complex situation that will arise with several claims, then I see that as a really important reason. I don't understand why that has not been the key message in the media around this issue. Getting it right is important too but people will appreciate it even more if they understand the delay will make it easier and less stressful for them inthe long run.

Is anyone else still waiting for movement on their Sept claim? And I have been told by our insurance company that they have at least 4 families on their books who have still not been seen by EQC for damage received in September. Does anyone know anyone in that group?

A friend of mine was at a function in the North Island last week, when someone asked him how he'd been affected by the earthquake. Before he could answer, a man standing with the group groaned loudly and said "oh I'm f***ing sick of hearing about the earthquake!". Not quite knowing what to say in reply, my friend simply turned on his heel and walked away.

I guess I can understand how people elsewhere may be suffering from 'earthquake fatigue'. It's old news to them now, the crisis is past ...

Mid-month, the day-long celebration of New Zealand music, Chartfest, opened with a concert by . The band flew down from Auckland on the Saturday¬†morning to perform, bringing a plane full of fans back with them to Auckland for another concert. Lead singer James Reid wore a t-shirt that said, ‘I CHCH.’ I think CHCH loves him too!
