Help the inquiry

The Commission has already requested and obtained significant amounts of information from a wide range of organisations and individuals, using the power of the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1908.

However to ensure that the Commission has all relevant information on the CTV, PGC, Forsyth Barr and Hotel Grand Chancellor buildings or any other building which failed in the 22 February 2011 earthquake causing loss of life, it would assist the Commission with the inquiry if you are able to provide relevant:

  • photos
  • video recordings
  • first hand accounts of the state, performance or failure

This information could relate to these buildings prior to, during, and after the 4 September 2010, 26 December 2010 and 22 February 2011 earthquakes.

The Commission is finalising a list of representative sample of buildings. Once this list is finalised the Commission will seek similar information in relation to these additional buildings.

As the inquiry is public, generally information received by the Commission will be made available on an unrestricted basis. However, if you want your information to be dealt with on a confidential basis, please discuss this with Counsel Assisting the Commission.
