Head down to The Dome in Hagley Park this weekend to find out more about the Council's plans for the year ahead and have your say.

Christchurch residents are invited to a series of three community open days this Saturday, Sunday and Monday to find out more about what is in the Draft Annual Plan 2012/13. Community consultation on the draft plan is now open until 21 May 2012.

A series of speakers are scheduled for the weekend, so residents can hear about the draft plan as well as read what's inside and ask questions.

A series of eight community drop-in sessions is also being arranged in community centres across the city, kicking off in Akaroa tomorrow night, Friday 27 April, to make it easier for residents who wish to find out more about the plan and pick up, or fill in, a submission on the day.

Senior staff will also be available at these sessions to answer questions. (Locations, dates and times listed below - please note change of location for Lyttelton session to that previously advertised).

Copies of the Draft Annual Plan 2012/13 are available online at www.ccc.govt.nz/annualplan and in service centres. A summary version of the plan was sent to all households last weekend.

Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker says this weekend is great opportunity for the Council to speak directly to residents about their thoughts on the draft plan. It is also a good chance for residents to find out more about what is proposed for the year ahead.

"We haven't made any final decisions yet on our budget for the year ahead - that's what this process is about. It is vital that people tell us what they think of the Council's proposals for the year ahead through the public submission process.

"The earthquakes have had a massive impact on our city and there are some major decisions to be made this year. Putting together this draft plan has been challenging and I am confident we have put forward a sound plan that, despite the enormity of the task before us, is able to meet the costs of the rebuild."
