Christchurch cathedral
Bishop Victoria Matthews is to visit churches around the world to inform future plans for Christchurch’s cathedral, but those rallying to stop the cathedral's demolition say the trip is a waste of time.
The bishop, the acting dean of the Anglican church, and architects from Warren and Mahoney plan to visit 12 religious buildings throughout the UK, Europe and America, some of which have undergone restorations following disasters.
But those campaigning to restore Christchurch’s cathedral say travelling overseas for expert opinions is unnecessary.
The diocese of Christchurch also plans to ask the public for suggestions on the future cathedral.
