Quake measuring 4.3 in Christchurch

An earthquake measuring 4.3 has jolted Christchurch this morning.

The quake, recorded at 8.52am, was located 10 kilometres east of the city and was at a depth of 9km, GNS Science said. It was felt strongly in the city, which is still recovering from a devastating earthquake in February 2011.

There was also an earthquake measuring 4.1 reported in the Manawatu region of the North Island today. That quake was deeper, at 90km, and was located 10km north of Whanganui. It was recorded at 12.03am.
