The independent review of the response to the Christchurch earthquakes is now being considered by the Government.

Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management director John Hamilton has just told the 6th Australasian Natural Hazards Management Conference that the review has more than 100 recommendations.

"The report is very full, with 107 recommendations from the strategic to some very technical, tactical procedures.
"I expect the bulk of the recommendations to be accepted, prioritised and implemented."

The review was handed to Hamilton at the end of June, he said.

It would "probably" be released to the public after consideration and adoption by Cabinet.
