Gayhurst Road and Dallington *UPDATE*

Works Begin 18 Jul 2012 Works End
Works Status Active
With the completion of repairs to the wastewater pipes on Gayhurst Road, work will now begin on road and stormwater reconstruction. Due to the scale of this work and other projects within the Dallington area, we are introducing new traffic management.

 Gayhurst Road:

  • Starting on 18 July 2012, work will begin on reconstructing the road from Glenarm Terrace to Cresswell Avenue. This will involve relaying the road surface, rebuilding the stormwater pipes, kerb and channels, and footpaths. Gayhurst Road will be reduced to one lane and traffic will only be able to head north.
  • Residents on Gayhurst Road will continue to have access to their properties. However this may be restricted during the day where construction is taking place nearby. Please contact us if you have any specific access requirements that we need to be aware of such as Meals on wheels, Nurse Maude etc.
  • Residents of Gayhurst Road must follow the north bound traffic flow to leave Gayhurst Road. Please take care when you leaving your property to ensure you are travelling in the correct direction.
  • Detours will be in place at the northern end of Gayhurst Road to redirect south bound traffic. (refer to map on the left)

Gayhurst Road detour:

Gayhurst Road will have a one way traffic system in place for north bound traffic between Glenarm Terrace and Mundys Road. All south bound traffic will need to follow the signed detour.

When entering Gayhurst Road (at the north end) from Cresswell Avenue, we recommended the following detour to reach the south end of Gayhurst Road.

  • Left into Mundys Road.
  • Right into Cheam Street.
  • Directly ahead into Ferner Street.
  • Left into McBratneys Road.
  • Right into Locksley Avenue.
  • Right into Glenarm Terrace.
  • Left or right onto Gayhurst Road (southern end) depending on intended destination.

This detour is recommended to avoid other construction sites in the Dallington Area.

Please note: Normal two way traffic will be in place along the entire length of the detour route

General impacts of the work:

  • The majority of the work will take place during the hours of 7.00am – 6.00pm, Monday to Saturday.
  • The work will result in some noise and dust if there are dry weather conditions.
  • The work will have no impact on current power, water, wastewater, telecommunications or gas services.
  • All works are subject to favourable weather and on-site construction conditions.
  • During the period of construction, we ask that you observe special cordons around construction areas for everyone’s safety.

Further information:

For any other information about this work, please contact the McConnell Dowell Construction Infrastructure Rebuild Team between the hours of 8:30am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday on free phone 0508 718 719. Any emergency calls made outside these hours will be diverted to a Site Engineer.
