Strathfield Avenue - Dallington - Wastewater

Works Begin 23 Jul 2012 Works End
Works Status Active
Starting 23 July, we will be repairing or replacing the public wastewater and lateral pipes along Strathfield Avenue.

What we are doing

  • We will be digging a trench along Strathfield Avenue to access the current wastewater main and replace any sections that are damaged.
  • As we check and repair the wastewater main we will also check and repair the public section of the laterals. Laterals are the pipes that take wastewater from the house to the wastewater main in the street.
  • The public section of the lateral is the section of the pipe between the wastewater main in the street and the property boundary, as shown in the diagram below.
  • The connection point of the public lateral to the private property lateral is normally located near the property boundary on public land (the road berm).
  • If this connection is located within the private property, then the owner’s permission to enter and work on private prop-erty will be sought prior to work beginning.
  • No work will be carried out on private property laterals.

Traffic Impacts:

  • If you are not the owner of this property, please pass this notice onto your landlord or property manager.
  • Work on Strathfield Avenue will be undertaken in three stages and will take approximately two months to complete. Only one stage will be worked on at a time.
  • Stage One: 13 Strathfield Avenue – Belfield Street Intersection. The road will be closed with resident access only. Work will head towards Belfield Street.
  • Stage Two: Belfield Street and Strathfield Avenue intersection. The intersection will be closed for the duration of stage two. Residents of Belfield Street will need to enter/leave from McBratneys Road.
  • Stage Three: Belfield Street Intersection to 65 Strathfield Avenue including Strathfield Avenue Lane. The road will be closed with resident access only. Work will head towards 65 Strathfield Avenue.
  • The section of road being worked on will be closed to general traffic at all times.

  • Please contact us if you have any specific access requirements that we need to consider e.g. Nurse Maude, Meals on Wheels or other planned works on your property.

General Impacts

  • We may need to enter private properties in the construction area to check the connection of the resident’s private laterals to the public lateral, if this connection is located within the property boundary.
  • An access and restoration agreement was enclosed for affected residents. We require property owners to complete and sign this. Without the property owners consent we will be unable to carry out any work on your property to connect your lateral line to the Council owned lateral line. The completed form will need to be returned to us by 3 August 2012. You can call us on free phone 0508 718 719 when the form is complete and we will arrange for it to be collected from you.
  • Weekly rubbish removal will continue as normal, however residents that are located within the construction area will need to have their bins out by 5.30pm the night before so that they can be moved to a pre-arranged pick up area by our contractor.
  • The majority of the work will take place during the hours of 7.00am – 6.00pm, Monday to Saturday. On rare occasions we may have to work Sunday to complete essential work
  • The work will result in some noise and dust if there are dry weather conditions.
  • The work will have no impact on current power, water, wastewater, telecommunications or gas services.
  • All works are subject to favourable weather and on-site construction conditions.
  • During the construction period, we ask that you observe special cordons around construction areas for everyone’s safety.
