Wainoni Road - Dallington - wastewater main and lateral repairs.

Works Begin 26 Sep 2012 Works End 31 Oct 2012
Works Status Pending Completion
We will be repairing the wastewater network along Wainoni Road, from Cuffs Road to Kerrs Road commencing 26 September 2012, and continuing until the end of October 2012. Wainoni Road will be reduced to one lane south-bound during the works from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm.

Where we are working

What we are doing

  • We will be digging a trench along Wainoni Road (between Cuffs Road and Kerrs Road. The trench will be dug where the current wastewater main is located, allowing access to the pipe.
  • As we replace each section of main pipe we will also be replacing the public section of the wastewater lateral. Laterals are the pipes which take wastewater from the house to the wastewater main in the street. The public section of the lateral is the section of pipe between the wastewater main and the property boundary.
  • Connection of a public lateral to the private lateral is normally at the property boundary. If this connection is located within the property boundary, then the owner’s permission to enter and work on the property will be sought prior to work beginning. No work will be carried out on private laterals with the property owner’s consent.

How our work could impact you –

Traffic Impacts:

  • Traffic flow will be one way only, heading south towards Kerrs Road, however we will open Wainoni Road up to two way traffic between the hours of 6.00 pm and 7.00 am.
  • North bound traffic will need to follow the detour signs via Kerrs Road to Avonside Drive, then onto Wainoni Road.
  • The work site will be a moving construction site and will move south along Wainoni Road from the Cuffs Road intersection to the Kerrs Road intersection.
  • Sections of the footpath will need to be closed while work is carried out. Detours will be put in place. Please follow the signs.
  • Please make sure that when you leave your property you are travelling in the correct direction.

Access to your driveway:

  • Due to the works, driveway access may need to be restricted at times. We will notify residents prior to this if their access will be restricted. We will also give you a time frame for how long access will be restricted.
  • Please contact us if you have any specific access requirements that we need to consider e.g. Nurse Maude, Meal on Wheels or other planned works on your property.

Access to your property for work:

  • For properties on Wainoni Road only: We may need to enter private properties in the construction area to check the connection of the private lateral to the public lateral if the connection is located on private property. An access and restoration agreement is enclosed with this notice for affected residents. Without property owners consent we will be unable to carry out any work on your property to connect your wastewater line to the Council owned wastewater pipeline. Please complete and return this form to us by 28 September.
  • You can call us on free phone 0508 718 719 when the form is complete and we can arrange for it to be collected from you if required.

General Impacts:

  • This work will take place during the hours of 7:00 am-5.30 pm, Monday to Friday and it may be necessary for some weekend work to take place to complete this essential work.
  • The work will result in some noise and dust if there are dry weather conditions. The work will not impact on current power, wastewater or gas services, however we may need to request that residents restrict their wastewater use for a short period while we are connecting their lateral to the wastewater main.
  • Weekly rubbish removal will continue as normal. We will notify residents if changes will be made.
  • All works are subject to favourable weather and on-site conditions.
  • During the period of construction we ask that you observe special cordons around construction areas.
