Bramwell Street, Westcott Street, Belfield Street, Dallington - Wastewater main and lateral repairs.

Works Begin 01 Oct 2012 Works End
Works Status Active
We will be repairing the wastewater system along Bramwell Street, Westcott Street and Belfield Street, Dallington commencing 1 October 2012, and continuing until December 2012. Work will be done in stages to reduce impact to the residents.

What we are doing

  • We will be digging a trench along each affected road. The trench will be dug where the current wastewater main is located in the street, allowing access to the pipe.
  • As we replace each section of main pipe we will also be replacing the public section of the wastewater lateral. Laterals are the pipes which take wastewater from the house to the wastewater main in the street. The public section of the lateral is the section of pipe between the wastewater main and the property boundary as shown in the diagram on the right.
  • Connection of a public lateral to the private lateral is normally at the property boundary. If this connection is located within the property boundary, then the owner’s permission to enter and work on the property will be sought prior to work beginning. No work will be carried out on private laterals.

How our work could impact you –

Traffic impacts:

  • Stage One Bramwell Street and Westcott Street: Work on these streets will be carried out simultaneously. This work will take approximately three weeks to complete.
  • Bramwell Street (east of Belfield Street): A full road closure will be in place with pedestrian access maintained. Work will begin at Belfield Street and move along Bramwell Street towards the cul-de-sac.
  • Westcott Street (east of Belfield Street): A full road closure will be in place with pedestrian access maintained. Work will begin at Belfield Street and move along Westcott Street towards the cul-de-sac.
  • For Bramwell Street and Westcott Street we will endeavour to maintain vehicle access to properties during construction. If access to properties cannot be maintained, we will notify residents prior to blocking access so that residents can make alternative arrangements.
  • Stage Two Belfield Street: Works will start after the completion of work on Bramwell Street and Westcott Street. This stage of work is expected to take four weeks
  • Work will begin on Belfield Street at the McBratneys Road intersection and head north towards the Strathfield Avenue intersection. Residents of Belfield Street, Bramwell Street and Westcott will have access to their properties, however this access will vary as work moves along Belfield Street. Access to Belfield Street from Strathfield Avenue or McBratneys Road will vary depending on the location of the worksite.
  • We will endeavour to maintain access to properties on Belfield Street during construction. If access to properties cannot be maintained, we will notify residents prior to blocking access so that residents can make alternative arrangements.
  • Stage Three McBratneys Road, Dallington Terrace and part of Banks Avenue: Further work is planned for this area. Notices will be sent to residents advising start dates and traffic management when they become available.

General impacts:

  • This work will take place during the hours of 7:00am-6.00pm, Monday to Friday and it may be necessary for some weekend work to take place to complete this essential work.
  • The work will result in some noise and dust if there are dry weather conditions. The work will not impact on current power, wastewater or gas services, however we may need to request that residents restrict their wastewater use for a short period while we are connecting their lateral to the wastewater main.
  • Weekly rubbish removal will continue as normal. We will notify residents if changes to the bin collection arrangements are required.
  • All works are subject to favourable weather and on-site conditions.
  • During the period of construction we ask that you observe special cordons around construction areas for you and your family’s safety.
