Addington suffered damage to mainly older brick buildings. However the big brick buildings near the railway were not majorly affected.

The raceway was both affected by the main shake and again by the 5.1 Aftershock later in September causing it to close a day before a big race meeting was to be held. There was no structural damage. Also in that shock meant the shelter used by people displaced from the main quake had to be shifted to other shelters.
