New Brighton

September 4th

Broken water pipes flooded several streets, and cut supplies. Water was restored to most homes by noon Sunday. Among worst hit streets were Waitaki St and Kia Ora St off Pages Rd, where roads were cracked, pavements buckled and homes structurally damaged. Anzac Road (North of New Brighton Road) cracking evident.

Shoreham Courts (council complex of 28 units) in Admirals Way was still without water and sewerage on Friday morning. There is water on the southern side of the street. Two units have had to be vacated but there is damage to all units. Portaloos were delivered Tuesday and tanker deliveries started on Wednesday. Water still had to be boiled for 3 months after the February Earthquake

New Brighton beach is beautiful. It needs the mall updated, attractions like 'pools', more picnic areas and seating, nice gardens. Stop neglecting New Brighton we are sick of TALK and NO ACTION!!

Create some wonderful attractions in New Brighton. Like the salt water pools, aquarium, some exciting activities for teenagers and ever young adults. And an arts hub: retail and training facilities.

Build a mall that takes advantage of indoor and out door flow by placing a wing of the mall either side of the library. This will create a court yard focusing on the library and pier.
